Covered by Documenters Marcy Clark (notes) and Daniel McLaughlin (live-tweets)
Some assembly required
The Cleveland Board of Control approved four contracts totaling $10.7 million for “certain items of fire hydrants and fire hydrant parts.” All of the contracts are set for two years. The largest one went to EJ USA Inc. for about $8.3 million.
My Chemical Finance
Bonded Chemicals Inc. also walked away from the meeting with a contract for a little more than $1 million for potassium permanganate. Although its use wasn’t talked about in the meeting, the chemical formula is often used to treat drinking water.
Three land parcels
The board also approved the sale of three land parcels in three different wards. Paul McPherson, owner of Coolest Cuts Beauty and Barber Studios, purchased land for $3,622 to expand his business in Ward 9.
Di Development made the largest purchase for $30,590 to build a new single-family home in Ward 3.
Lastly, the New Life Christian Fellowship Church spent $200 to expand its side yard in Ward 2 through the city’s side yard expansion program.
The Land recently interviewed McPherson to learn more about the history of Coolest Cuts. Read the article.
