Wrestling fans have a full three days to chant “This is Awesome!” at events taking place inside the Squared Circle with the WWE Friday Night Smackdown and SummerSlam, Wrestlecon and similar events happening throughout the city this week.
Fans from around the world will wrestle their way through Cleveland from Thursday, Aug. 1, to Saturday, Aug. 3. The events range in cost from Million Dollar Man money to free for all. Here’s a complete guide to all of the events wrestling fans can look forward to in Cleveland this week. Should be a real slobberknocker!
Thursday, Aug. 1
6:30 a.m.: Brewnuts, purveyors of donuts and beer in Detroit-Shoreway, debuts its WWE-inspired menu and kicks off Brewnuts Slam, a weekend of events including trivia, watch parties and “general revelry.”
10 a.m.: The WWE SummerSlam Store opens at Tower City. The store will host meet & greets with WWE stars all weekend, starting Thursday at 5 p.m. with Chelsea Green.
7 p.m.: The Roxy at Mahall’s in Lakewood hosts the Wrestling Night Club featuring a guest DJ set by WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mark Henry. Tickets start at around $32.
7:30 p.m.: SiriusXM show host and longtime wrestling commentator Sam Roberts, of the Jim Norton & Sam Roberts show, will produce a podcast about the upcoming WWE events live from Hilarities. Tickets start at $25.
7:30 p.m.: Local professional wrestling league Absolute Intense Wrestling opens its own tournament, “AIW Against The World”, at TempleLive. Tickets are $15.
Friday, Aug. 2
11 a.m: All rise for El Campeon during a screening of the new documentary “WWE 24: Damien Priest.” The event features a live Q&A with Damien Priest at the Cleveland Agora. Tickets range from $43 to $63.
1 p.m.: WrestleCon, the wrestling community’s fan convention, kicks off a two-day run at the Cleveland Marriott at Key Tower. One-day tickets are $21.
5 p.m.: The WWE’s SummerSlam Kickoff starts at 5 p.m. outside Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse and is free for anyone to attend.
7:45 p.m.: The WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown takes over Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Ticket prices start at $25.
8 p.m.: The Game Changer Wrestling league hits Cleveland for the first time with the “Now And Forever” tournament at TempleLive. Tickets start at $35.
10 p.m.: Canadian professional wrestler Sami Zayn hosts a comedy and variety show at the Cleveland Agora. Ticket prices range from $48 to $78.
Saturday, Aug. 3
10 a.m.: The WWE hosts a volunteer opportunity at Cleveland Browns Stadium for fans who want to help pack meals for Clevelanders in need alongside their favorite wrestling stars. Tickets start at $200, with all funds going to the V Foundation for cancer research.
1 p.m.: Legendary WWE star The Undertaker performs a one-man show and takes audience questions at the Cleveland Agora. Tickets start at $43.
1 p.m.: The “Slammed On Sixth” WWE Tailgate Party runs on West 6th Street downtown until 7 p.m. with AIW live wrestling, food trucks and live music. Tickets start at $10, $30 for ringside seats to the wrestling matches. Kids under 12 can attend free.
3:30 p.m.: A $10 ticket gets you into the Velvet Dog for the WHIP Show Podcast live with visits from wrestling stars, pro wrestling trivia and live music.
4 p.m.: The WWE Countdown Show starts on Alfred Lerner Way on the south side of Cleveland Browns Stadium and is free to attend.
6:30 p.m.: The main event, WWE SummerSlam, starts at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Tickets are available starting at $53 but are subject to increases and decreases based on demand, so keep checking back with Ticketmaster up until start time.
