Working multiple jobs is a reality for many Clevelanders. Some turn that grind into pursuing a dream or simply finding community. Our Side Hustle multimedia series aims to capture their hustling spirit. Watch the video or read the transcript of my interview with Meghann Hennen below.
Hi. I’m Meghann Hennen, founder and CEO of Challah at Meg.
Why is this your side hustle?
So this is my Side Hustle because I work full time as a teacher my business is a Challah bread business, which is a Jewish traditional bread that is braided.
I usually use three strands. Those three strands can represent anything that you want to hear. So for me, I think about love, community and justice.
I make it for special occasions, especially on Shabbat to celebrate the day of rest.
Why did you start the business?
I started Challah at Meg in the very beginning of the pandemic when we were all isolating and wanted to bring people together through bread.
Breaking bread is very important on Shabbat.
It was something that continued to grow after making experimental Challahs for families at my school. It makes me feel really happy knowing that my customers really enjoy eating my bread and knowing that they’re with their families.
I’m Meghann Hennen and Challah at Meg is my Side Hustle.
