Ohio is one of the top 10 apple-producing states in the country. Luckily for Greater Cleveland residents, that means there are ample apple orchards a short drive in any direction.
From East Side suburbs such as Chesterland and West Side suburbs such as Avon to farms dotting the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, keep scrolling for our round up of places to shop for fresh-picked apples — and even pick some yourself.
Apple orchards on the East Side of Cleveland
Eddy Fruit Farm
2079 Caves Road, Chesterland
Open daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Why we’re visiting: Eddy’s boasts a large variety of apples grown for patrons to pick themselves, as well as u-pick Concord and seedless grapes.
To ensure a long apple-picking season, Eddy’s is only allowing apple picking on the weekends. Visitors can still pick grapes on weekdays.
Patterson Fruit Farm
8765 Mulberry Road, Chesterland
Daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why we’re visiting: Every fall, Patterson’s sets up a daily fall festival at its Mulberry Road farm. Along with apple picking, the Family Fun Fest features racing slides, corn mazes, pedal tractors, pumpkin and face painting and pony rides on Saturdays and Sundays.
Entry costs $7 on weekdays and $11 on weekends.
For those not interested in the festival, the Patterson Farm Market offers apple picking with a smaller selection of apple varieties. It is located at 11414 Caves Road in Chesterland.

Apple orchards on the West Side of Cleveland
Pickering Hill Farms
35669 Detroit Road, Avon
Open daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m.*
*6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Why we’re visiting: This apple orchard does not offer apple picking, but it still makes this list for the offerings at its farm store. Along with the dozen-plus apple varieties sold at the store, patrons can purchase local honey, ice cream, mushrooms and baked goods.
Pickering Hill does offer pumpkin picking on weekends in October.
Grobe Fruit Farm
43875 Telegraph Road, Elyria

Why we’re visiting: Grobe Fruit Farm first started offering apple picking in the fall of 2023, and it’s a great addition to fall activity options for Cleveland’s western suburbs. At the apple orchard, there is a mini golf course, playgrounds and games for families to enjoy.
Additionally, the Grobe Fruit Farm Market sells seasonal produce and goods such as squash, pumpkins, grape juice and apple cider.
Apple orchards South of Cleveland

Country Maid
3252 W. Streetsboro Road, Richfield
Open daily 12-8 p.m.
Why we’re visiting: Like its northwestern neighbor Pickering Hill, this apple orchard does not offer apple picking. But the charming ice cream store and farm market on site make this lost-in-time business a must add.
Aside from the fresh apples and ice cream available for purchase, Country Maid sells a wide variety of produce and baked goods along with bulk items such as popping corn.
Mapleside Farms
294 Pearl Road, Brunswick
Open Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Why we’re visiting: Mapleside puts on such a large production in the fall that the 100-acre farm gets a new name — Pumpkin Village. The village is host to many fall activities, including a 300-foot slide, hayrides, pig and duck races and live music.
While visitors can’t pick apples directly, Mapleside has an apple barn that houses crates filled with hundreds of apples you can bag yourself.
Tickets start at $15.
We will see you at the orchards!
