The waitlist for a small number of housing units will open on March 6. The units are for people with disabilities and are managed by EDEN, a nonprofit that helps people find stable housing.
People who apply will be put on a waitlist for the multi-family units. They include two-bedroom units in Cleveland Heights and three-bedroom units on Cleveland’s West Side. Currently about four units are open, but the waitlist will be used to fill future openings at the two sites, according to EDEN staff.
Filling out the application is the first step in the process. Applicants will be placed on the waitlist in the order in which applications are received.
Am I eligible?
To qualify, a person in the household must be low-income and disabled. A doctor must sign a form confirming the disability. In general, the disability has to significantly impact a person’s ability to work or to meet other basic needs. People with mental as well as physical disabilities are eligible. Here’s the form used to verify disability. If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), that counts as proof that you are disabled.
Applications open for 32 hours
People can complete the application online starting March 6 at 8:30 a.m. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 7. Need help filling out the application? Contact EDEN at 216-961-9690 or [email protected].
What questions will be on the application?
You’ll need to provide basic contact information, including your name and email address.
For the application, you’ll also need:
- A current address where you can receive mail.
- Copies of a photo ID for each member of your household. Photos taken on a phone are fine.
- Names, date of birth and Social Security numbers for people who live with you, including children
- If you have a case manager, that person’s name, phone number or email address
- Annual income for anyone aged 18 or over who lives in the household.
EDEN may also ask people to include demographic information (gender, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, etc.).
