It’s happened to the best of us: One day you’re casually (or maybe guiltily) finishing off the last of the Easter sale candy, and the next thing you know, it’s Mother’s Day!
And that’s when the panic sets in.
You’re thinking: With less than a week lead time, what can I whip together that doesn’t scream “last-minute effort”? Well, at this point, anything you do is pretty much a last-minute effort, so let’s just roll with it.

May 9-11
Malley’s Chocolate-Covered Strawberries, a Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day staple, go on sale Friday, May 9, at noon at all Malley’s locations and will be available throughout the weekend – or while supplies last.
Cleveland Uncorked, Lago Custom Events, 1091 W. 10th St., on the East Bank of the Flats. Lago is offering three days of wine tastings/pairings and a Mother’s Day Bubbles & Brunch that includes a tasting of five champagnes. $59-$145; tickets are available through Eventbrite. Times vary.

MAY 10
Lady Caroline Pre-Mother’s Day Dinner Cruise, West Bank of the Flats, at the far end of the Powerhouse parking lot. What: If mom already has plans for Mother’s Day, you could try to convince her to go to dinner the night before on a Lady Caroline Dinner Cruise. Lady Caroline is a new luxury cruise vessel, replacing the retired Nautica Queen. $89.95 plus tax. When: 7:30 pm. Reservations required.
MAY 11
Cooper’s Hawk Brunch & Bubbles, 27200 Harvard Road, Orange Village. What: While this isn’t a special Mother’s Day menu, Cooper’s Hawk’s Brunch & Bubbles menu is always a treat. Reservations required. When: Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dinner & Concert, Sylks, 21300 Libby Road, Maple Heights. What: Local entrepreneur Sam Sylk will host a Mother’s Day dinner and concert featuring the MGM Band. Register through Eventbrite. $55. When: 2 to 8 pm.
Through MAY 18
The Nature of Healing Exhibit, Cleveland Botanical Garden, 11030 East Blvd., University Circle. What: A trip to the Botanical Garden is always a good move for the floral experience.Through May 18, there’s an added attraction: the special exhibit The Nature of Healing, which examines trauma and mental health and the utilization of green spaces as community healing spaces. Featuring more than 20 artists from Northeast Ohio, this exhibit is co-curated with and presented by Deep Roots Experience. Exhibit access included with general admission: $13 to $19. When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
