Every year, the State of Ohio designates a handful of days when shoppers can save on taxes for in-person and online purchases. It’s officially called the Ohio Sales Tax Holiday.
The tax-free weekend — or in this year’s case, the 10-day tax holiday — has a couple goals. One is to promote spending to stimulate the local economy. The other is to help families with the cost of shopping for school supplies.
This year, the Sales Tax Holiday will take place from 12 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30 until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, August 8. Generally, “tangible” personal property that costs less than $500 is eligible for the tax exemption.
Do you know what specific purchases are not eligible? See if you know in the quiz below and press the submit button to find the answer.
Also in today’s quiz, learn about the cost of childcare in Ohio, the Old Stone Church in Public Square and science at the Cleveland Zoo.
Congrats to quiz takers Richard J., Renee L., Benjamin D. and Margaret S. for scoring 100% on last week’s challenging quiz about JD Vance, the Ohio Lottery, property value increases and Moses Cleaveland.
Good luck this week!
