The City of Cleveland believes they’ll find their next great employees right here in town.
Job seekers can find opportunities at a city-wide job fair on Friday, Jan. 12, from 12 p. m. until 3 p.m. in the City Hall Rotunda, 601 Lakeside E.
Marie Zickefoose, Mayor Justin Bibb’s press secretary, said via email that connecting more residents with job opportunities is one of the administration’s goals. Zickefoose provided Signal Cleveland more details on the hiring event.
What positions are open?
All of our departments will be represented at the hiring event. This is great opportunity for job seekers to engage with our department managers, share their resumes, apply directly in our Recruitment Center location at 601 Lakeside Ave Room 30, as well as be able to grasp a better understanding of the City of Cleveland’s hiring process to set the correct expectation when applying with the city.
Darrick McDaniel, with the city’s Civil Service Commission wants people to know that some of the positions do not require a GED or a high school diploma.
This hiring event is for everyone from zero to executive level of experience, McDaniel said.
How to apply
Registration is still open online, Zickefoose said. We are currently up to 489 registrants. We encourage registration. However, walk-ins are surely welcome.
Will there be another hiring event this year?
Yes. We are currently preparing for our City of Cleveland Summer Hiring Event, which will be at recreation centers on Feb. 3, Feb. 24, March 2, and March 16. More information is coming.
We also work with community partners to host the City Wide Success Fair at the Huntington Convention Center. Last year we were able to bring over 275 employers and resources together with over 400 job seekers attending. We are looking forward to the 2024 Success Fair.
