Combat rising rents with more affordable housing, advocates say

Olivera Perkins, Economics Reporter by Olivera Perkins April 24, 2024October 18, 2024

Many often tout rents in Greater Cleveland as being affordable when compared to housing on the East Coast and West Coast and even in some Midwest cities.

Cleveland and Cuyahoga County governments tapped the nonprofit CHN Housing Partners (CHN) to administer $100 million in pandemic rental assistance to more than 30,000 households. Most of the more than $170 million in the federal pandemic rental assistance that has come to this area has already been distributed. This photo shows a home in Cleveland’s Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood owned and managed by CHN, which develops and manages affordable housing and is also a residential lender.
