Cleveland Puerto Rican Expo
Join the Puerto Rican community in celebrating the annual Cleveland Puerto Rican Expo, running from August 1-4. This four-day celebration of Puerto Rican culture has been observed since the late ’60s. Activities will include the 54th annual parade, family arts and crafts, live music, food, vendors and more. New Day in Hough Ward 7 Festival
Join Councilwoman Stephanie Howse-Jones and residents at the New Day in Hough Ward 7 Festival on Saturday, August 3 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. This free event will feature community resources, food trucks, vendors, and a children’s play area with Recess Cleveland. Live music will include performances by Show Wagon, Russell Thompson & Free Agent, Unit Experience, Hubb’s Groove and local DJs. Cultivating Goodwill & Democracy
The Institute for Poetic Medicine, in partnership with Neighborhood Connections and Purpose Matters, is hosting Cultivating Goodwill & Democracy on August 2-3. This two-day workshop will hold a space for individuals to express themselves through poetry and poem-making. The workshop encourages attendees to sit down together, listen and write in a respectful, nonjudgmental environment. The organizers recommend attending both sessions, but it is not mandatory. The Friday session will be from 5:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Saturday’s is from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The workshop will take place at the Neighborhood Connections office, located at 1971 E. 66th St. To get your free tickets, click here.

Symphony at sunset
Enjoy a mixed chamber orchestral performance on Sunday, August 4 from 7:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Pack a picnic, bring a friend and enjoy the soothing sounds of orchestral music while overlooking the Cuyahoga River. The performance will take place at Superior Hill Park, located at 1007 W. Superior Ave. For more information, click here.
