On Saturday, the Glenville Tarblooders scored a historic win over Wyoming High School in the OHSAA Division IV state championship game at Tom Benson Stadium in Canton.

The City of Cleveland hosted a parade and rally for the players and coaches on Thursday.

The win came after an impressive season. Glenville went undefeated (15-0). The Tarblooders’ victory is also a first for the city – Cleveland Metropolitan School District has never held a state champion title in high school football.

Decked out in the team’s colors – red, white and black – students, parents, friends and alumni of all ages lined up their cars on St. Clair Avenue to celebrate the winners.

The motorcade of fans escorted the team and their coach Ted Ginn Sr. all the way downtown to Public Auditorium for the rally, where they were greeted by city leaders including Mayor Bibb, Council President Blaine Griffin, and Eric Gordon.
