Hey there, Cleveland. As the first month of 2025 comes to a close, how is everyone feeling? I’m excited to see the days are getting longer, which means spring is somewhere on the horizon. While we wait for warmer days, let’s look into what free events are going on in Cleveland this week.

Lunar New Year Celebration, the Year of the Snake

The AsiaTown neighborhood will be hosting a Lunar New Year celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Sunday, Feb. 2. This event will include food trucks, vendors, children’s activities and more. The celebration will take place in the AsiaTown plaza, 2999 Payne Ave. For more information, including parking directions and a schedule of events, click here.

Intergenerational luncheon

Third Space Action Lab will be hosting an intergenerational luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31. This event is designed to bring together people of all ages to have a meal and discuss what’s going on in the community. Cleveland artist Amanda D. King and Case Western Reserve University Associate Professor Erin Benay will lead the conversation. Third Space Action Lab is located at 1464 E. 105 St. For more information, stop by the lab.

Community craft circle

Praxis Fiber Workshop & Gallery will be hosting a free craft circle from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Knitting and crochet supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring any project you may be working on as well. The circle organizers ask that you bring a snack to share if you can, but it is not required. For more information, click here.

Fiction writing group

The Cleveland Public Library Rice Branch will be hosting a fiction writing group from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. Participants will read selected stories and novels for inspiration. A series of writing exercises will help them create their own fiction. The Rice Branch is located at 11535 Shaker Blvd. Registration is required. To register, click here.
