Time for the wearing of the green.

Cleveland’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will take place this Monday. The procession steps off from Superior Avenue at East 18th Street at 1:04 p.m. Opening ceremonies start at 12:30 p.m.

Cleveland’s parade route

From Superior Avenue at East 18th Street, the parade will travel:

  • Southwest on Superior Avenue to West Roadway
  • Northwest on West Roadway for one block
  • Northeast on Rockwell Avenue

The procession ends at the intersection of Rockwell Avenue and Ontario Street.

The United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland organize the annual parade. Made up of 28 Irish organizations, the nonprofit’s sole purpose is to put on the state’s oldest march – with approximately 10,000 participants.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s close friend

“Celebrate the life of St. Brigid” is the theme for this year’s event.

St. Brigid is also known as Mary of the Gael and, along with St. Patrick and St. Columcill, she is one of the patron saints of Ireland.

How to get to the St. Patrick’s Day parade

With thousands expected downtown Monday, city officials are encouraging parade goers to take RTA. Parking at transit station lots is free. Fares won’t take all your green — an all day pass is $5.

A no parking ban will be in effect for the staging area and route starting at 9 a.m. Closures and parking restrictions are “subject to change based on real-time information,” according to the City of Cleveland website.

Parking and road closures

According to parade organizers, a no parking ban will be in effect for the staging area and route starting at 9 a.m. This includes Superior avenue between Public Square and East 24th street, plus all cross streets one block north and one block south of Superior avenue.

If you decide to drive downtown, closures and parking restrictions are “subject to change based on real-time information,” according to the City of Cleveland website.

Officials remind revelers “to be mindful of signage indicating road closures as violators will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.”

A map with the parade route and initial closures and restrictions can be found here.
