The Signal Cleveland Community Listening Team listens and engages with Greater Clevelanders to make sure the news we’re publishing reflects community expertise. Meet team member La Queta Worley at the Ward 5 Community Meetings at Friendly Inn Settlement and find team member Kellie Morris next week at the Pearls Ex(HER)bition at Glenville High School.

Introduction

I’m La Queta. I’m Lila. I’m Marvetta. I’m Kellie. I’m Najee. And, we’re the Signal Cleveland Community Listening Team.

All: Signal Cleveland is a community-centered newsroom built around you. The listening team is made up of members of your community. We want to understand what issues are important to you so we can make sure we’re reporting on the issues you care about most.

You are Signal Cleveland.

La Queta: I’m Keeta Worley. I want to do a spelling bee for 2024 in the Central community.

Marvetta: I’m Marvetta Rutherford and I’m originally from East Cleveland. I’m going to cover the missing children of Northeast Ohio.

Kellie: I’m Kellie Morris. And, like you, I’m interested in knowing what resources are available in Northeast ohio.

Lila: I’m Lila Parker. And, just like you, I want to know what’s important to our middle school students, high school students, their teachers and their parents.

Najee: I’m Najee Hall, community reporter for Signal Cleveland. And, just like you, I want a city that works for the many and not just the few.

All: Tell us what’s important to you at 216-220-9398. That’s 216-220-9398.

Or, meet us out in the community. Just look for our crossroads logo at local events and gathering spaces. Check our website signalcleveland.org to see where we’ll be hanging out next.

Like you, you and you, we’re all Signal Cleveland.

Audio Producer (she/her)
I create audio stories meant to engage and inform people in a way that pushes beyond media stereotypes. I aim to build trust between local media and the community, striving to teach people “how” to think about life in Cleveland, not “what” to think.

Cleveland Documenters pays and trains people to cover public meetings where government officials discuss important issues and decide how to spend taxpayer money.
