Halloween Senior Wellness Expo

The Cleveland Senior Network will be hosting the Halloween Senior Wellness Expo on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Health screenings, wellness talks and vendor tables will be included.

Shalom Plotkin is the owner of Right to Home, one of the premiere sponsors and organizers of the wellness expo. He is beyond excited for seniors to have a place to come together and have a good time.

“Why do the kids get to have all the fun on Halloween?” Plotkin said. “Socialization is important for all people, especially seniors. Instead of sitting at home and watching television, come out and meet your community and build relationships.”

The Beachwood fire department will also be in attendance to offer seniors  tips for fall prevention.

“About 80-85% of the calls the fire department receives these days is for a slip and fall,” Plotkin said. “Seniors just want to be in their homes. If we can help one person fall down a little bit less … that can mean all the difference.”

Feel free to dress up – prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The expo will be held at the Beachwood Community Center, located at 25225 Fairview Blvd. The first 150 people to register will receive a free lunch. To register, call Right at Home at 216-752-2222.

Community Reporter (he/him)
I work to gain the trust of Cleveland residents through direct community engagement and storytelling. My goal is to amplify and celebrate the residents and stakeholders who contribute to the success of city neighborhoods. I’m hoping to erase the negative stigma that has been cast on some neighborhoods throughout the years.
