A job fair for people looking to work in aviation, manufacturing and other fields is on Tuesday, March 11 at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

The Aerozone job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the RTA Red Line Rapid Station level of the airport. Employers will be recruiting for: Bus operators, electricians, machine operators, material handlers and advanced manufacturing jobs.

Companies will interview job candidates at the event. The Aerozone Alliance, which is organizing the event, strongly urges attendees to register in advance using this  registration link.

Many of these positions offer career advancement, competitive wages and training opportunities, making this event valuable for both entry-level candidates and those with specialized skills.”

Mary Jo Schmidt, the Aerozone Alliance’s director of business engagement, on Tuesday’s job fair

What is Aerozone?

The Aerozone Alliance is focused on creating a district or hub, called an Aerozone, that fosters innovation and economic development around NASA Glenn Research Center and Cleveland Hopkins.

About 9,000 people work at or near Cleveland Hopkins, wrote Mary Jo Schmidt, the Aerozone Alliance’s director of business engagement, in an email to Signal Cleveland. That makes the area an “aerotropolis” because its economy is tightly tied to the airport.

“Airports operate like a small city, with thousands of employees working in a wide variety of careers – from aviation and security to engineering, hospitality and customer service,” she wrote.

Schmidt said Aerozone is holding the job fair in hopes of strengthening the hub by connecting employers with good candidates. Schmidt said employers that will be at the job fair are actively hiring. (Attendees at job fairs sometimes complain about companies not having openings.)

“Many of these positions offer career advancement, competitive wages and training opportunities, making this event valuable for both entry-level candidates and those with specialized skills,” she wrote.
