For more than two hours, members of trades unions, marching bands, civic groups, and elected officials marched down the sunny-but-chilly route from East 18th Street and Superior Avenue to Public Square. Irish dance troupes and the Pipes and Drums of the Cleveland Police kept people moving.
Cleveland’s first St. Patrick’s Day parade was in 1842. The parade is organized by the United Irish Societies of Greater Cleveland, a nonprofit that includes 28 Irish organizations.
