Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb will promote safer neighborhoods next week at one of several Night Out Against Crime events throughout the city.

Night Out Against Crime is a national event held on the first Tuesday of August each year. The goal, according to National Night Out, is to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.”

In Cleveland, each police district will host an event from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with activities for children, such as face painting, and free hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Residents can also meet local leaders and safety officials from the Cleveland Division of Police, the City of Cleveland, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of Ohio and the Greater Cleveland, Regional Transit Authority.

Mayor Bibb will attend the First District event at Holloran Park on Tuesday.
