Money is flowing in the Ward 5 race, candidates’ latest unaudited campaign finance reports show.
Maurer raised almost $33,000 between the start of July and Aug. 20. That’s more than any other Cleveland City Council candidate on the Sept. 9 primary ballot who filed a disclosure by last week’s deadline.
Starr raised less: almost $19,000. But he has put more money in the field over the last two months. He spent almost $32,000 on mailers, campaign events, paid canvassers and other costs. (Maurer spent around $19,000.)
Ward 5 candidate Beverly Owens-Jackson spent $3,263 since July in her bid for the seat.
Here are the top 10 fundraisers among Cleveland City Council candidates who filed their disclosures by the Aug. 28 deadline. The list only includes candidates with primaries Sept. 9.
