What happened:
The Cleveland Board of Control approved a $1.2 million contract with Safe Choice LLC for armed security at recreation centers and outdoor pools next summer. Director of Public Works Frank Williams said that armed, uniformed commissioned officers and off-duty police officers will be assigned to all 21 recreation centers Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. They will be assigned to outdoor pools Wednesday through Saturday.
Stadium repairs:
The board also approved a contract for a capital repair audit of the Cleveland Browns Stadium. Director of the Mayor’s Office of Capital Projects James DeRosa said the audit is required by contract to happen every five years. He said this will be the last one they are required to do for the current stadium. The contract went to Osborn Engineering Co. for an amount of $238,100.
