Dennis and Gail are avid anglers, outdoor enthusiasts, and writers. In 2010, they founded The Fishing Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; its mission is to enrich people’s lives through the sport of fishing. Professionally, Gail worked as grants director for Ideastream Public Media and other philanthropic organizations. Dennis is an Emmy award winning television producer and filmmaker. Together, they authored the book, Learn to Fish: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginning Anglers, and are the creators of the comic strip “Hooked.”

Meet the club

CAPTAIN DENNY

CAPTAIN DENNY

A grizzled old fisherman who runs a charter boat service. He often takes the group out on the water and teaches them about different types of fish.

MS. MARGARET

MS. MARGARET

The mother of Jake and Janice and a seasoned angler who often joins the group on their fishing outings. She knows the best fishing spots.

RANGER GAIL

RANGER GAIL

A park ranger who patrols the local lakes and streams. She often stops by to check on the group and make sure they are following regulations.

UNCLE ULYSSES

UNCLE ULYSSES

An experienced fisherman who often gives young anglers advice. He owns a bait and tackle shop.

DANNY

DANNY

The jokester of the group. He may not take fishing as seriously as the others, but his quick wit always keeps the group in high spirits.

ALEX

ALEX

The group’s leader and expert fisherman. With his trusty tackle box and vast knowledge of fishing techniques, he’s always ready to help his friends.

JESÚS

JESÚS

A laid-back kid who is happy to spend his days by the water. He has a natural talent for fishing, often catching the biggest fish.

SAMANTHA

SAMANTHA

A smart, studious member of the group always ready to try new things. She’s a loyal friend to Alex and helps him with his fishing endeavors.

JAKE

JAKE

Jake is enthusiastic, curious and loves to fish. He is always eager to learn more about fishing techniques and constantly trying to improve his skills.

THREE FISH

THREE FISH

TUNA and GILL are mature fish. JUNIOR, a younger fish, is learning the ropes.

JANICE

JANICE

Jake’s older sister, is the spunky, adventurous member of the group. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and is always up for trying new techniques.
