Hey Cleveland, shout out to the community for showing up for one another after last week’s storm.  It was beautiful to see residents come together to help each other in a time of need. After a tricky week of power outages and spoiled food, let’s get back to the good times. Here’s a look at some of the events happening this week.

Survived To Live will be hosting a Family Movie Night on Friday, Aug. 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This free event is designed for children ages 5-14 and will include hot dogs, hamburger sliders, chips, juice and popcorn. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. “Planet of the Apes” will be the movie of the night.

Tracy Patton, organizer of the event and CEO of Survived To Live, wants the community to come together in a safe space and spend quality time together.

“This event is about parents connecting with their children and being able to spend time together while building relationships with our neighbors. We have got to come together as a community again. That’s my goal here,” Patton said.

Movie night will take place at Lonnie Burton Recreation Center, located at 2511 E. 46th St. For more information, click here.

Community Reporter (he/him)
I work to gain the trust of Cleveland residents through direct community engagement and storytelling. My goal is to amplify and celebrate the residents and stakeholders who contribute to the success of city neighborhoods. I’m hoping to erase the negative stigma that has been cast on some neighborhoods throughout the years.
